About WeatherTrek

The personal weather data on this website is powered by WeatherFlow Air and Sky sensors. The data is collected every second and the site is updated approximately every 5 seconds using Weather Display software, which also creates most of the weather data graphics. The station is comprised of an anemometer, a rain gauge, thermo-hydro and solar sensors situtated in optimal positions for highest accuracy possible.

This is a hobby website for my personal weather stations, of which I currently have three and counting. Originally, the primary weather station was a Davis Vantage Pro, but after 15 years of service it has become unreliable. Recently, I obtained a new Vantage Pro2 and the data from that station is now contained in other portions of this website. I also have a Netatmo weather system which supplies weather data via their website. In one form or another, this website has existed for over 15 years. The first weather data recorded from my previous Davis weather station was on August 2, 2002.

Unfortunately, that data is currently not available as I have transitioned from Virtual Weather Station (VWS) software to Weather Display with this recent rebuild. I have a dedicated computer and internet connection to deliver the weather data to the web hosting site. The weather forecasts are obtained from NOAA.

As you browse this site, you will notice that we have two primary sources of personal weather data listed. One is our new Davis Vantage Pro2 weather station and the other is our WeatherFlow weather station consisting of their Air and Sky sensors. The weather data is uploaded to our web host by running dual instances of Weather Display software (one for each weather station) on our dedicated weather computer. You may also notice that the weather data is not indentical at any given time. This is primarily due to the mounting of each station (they both can't ocupy the same physical space) and that they are just slightly different in general. In the future, I'll go into more details and offer my personal experiences and preferences for those that might be looking to purchase a personal weather station on the future.

About Greensboro

Greensboro, the county seat of Guilford County and presently North Carolina's third-largest city, was founded in 1808.

The tiny village, extending only two blocks in each direction from the courthouse square, was named for General Nathanael Greene, who led the American forces at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse.

Greensboro owes its present-day image as the "Gate City", and thus as a major thoroughfare in commerce, largely to the efforts of former governor John Motley Morehead and other prominent Greensboro men who successfully lobbied the State Legislature in 1849 to direct the route of the North Carolina Railroad, which would connect Goldsboro to Charlotte, northward through the city. This railroad was completed by 1856, and by the end of the 1800s several other rail lines either passed through or originated in Greensboro.
