Website Renovation
Ever since our migration to the new web host back
in 2007, we have been meaning to rework this site. Recently, we have been
experiencing slow load times, page failures, script failures, ftp failures, etc.
You name it, and it seems to fail from time to time. What good is a
website whose purpose is to provide accurate weather data if it continuously is
unavailable?
Our web host has concluded that our problems are
self induced by programming that contains various coding errors. Some of
the scripts apparently contain errors that puts undue stress on the server
hardware to the point of causing memory issues and hang-ups. Add this to
various pages that were not updated after the migration, but are still "crawled"
by various spiders seeking web data. Apparently these spiders are hitting
some pages that are adding to our hardware grief.
After working for a week to repair these issues,
we have concluded they are too widespread to completely address one by one.
Therefore, we are in the process of completely taking down the coding for this
website and restoring it as time allows. We will do our best to keep the
basic weather data functionality, but can make no promises during this
renovation. As the site is "striped", we will let it run a while to make
sure our hardware issues are resolved. Then we will begin the process of
restoring the site. We do not intend to make it as "broad" as it was
previously. Due to the time required to keep the pages fresh, we will opt
for a strictly weather data site where you can find the current temperature,
forecast and related weather information. Our goal is to have the site as
automated is possible, and present a clean and simple interface to our weather
data.
We ask for your patience and understanding during
the renovation. There are bound to be issues, broken links, old data
displayed, etc. To those that use this website, we thank you for your
support, and ask that you continue to visit us as this renovation goes forward.
